Jaida Ward of Tracy claimed another beach volleyball title last week when she and Tanner Pemberton placed first out of 25 teams at the California Beach Volleyball Association championships in Santa Cruz on July 12.
The win qualified the teens, both members of Rage Volleyball Club of Ripon, to compete in the USA Volleyball Junior Tour on Aug. 2 in Santa Cruz for a chance to reach the California Cup State Championship on Aug. 26 at Manhattan Beach.
Ward, a junior at Lincoln High in Stockton, and Pemberton, a senior at Calaveras High, won
their first match in pool play 21-0, with Ward serving for 21 consecutive points. They won three
21-14, 23-21 in the championship bracket.
Ward is also qualified to compete at the Northern California Volleyball Association Championships on Aug. 12 with her other playing partner, Jessica Schumann, also from Calaveras High and Rage Volleyball Club
